Oh how we love the Ohs

Ok we used to love em,  until all we could taste from any can good was a metal twang.I think  it may be due to us eating in and not out anymore.... Or due to us eating fresh from the garden. Either way it has gotten us away from some bad habits and that is a good thing.
Now with that said the WANT for the quick easy childhood comfort food has not gone away. I had seen this Ditalini pasta in the store when buying the pasta I use in frog eye salad. I knew exactly what it looked like but the thought of using it for anything other then in a soup did not click till this week. I have to say it was good and not quite " The Chef" worthy BUT then again the Brand name has chem lab stuff in it and that I can not recreate nor do I want to. Soooo you ready? Of course you are!!! Here is my try at a home made version. Enjoy making your Inner Child smile.

* side note* I do want you to share with me if you find a certain something to add to it to make it more Yum. For example here at our house Dragon found he liked it so much more with hot sauce splashed all over it. I added a pinch of shredded cheese. So yes please feel free to share with me your AddIns.

Homemade Tomato Pasta Rings

Ingredients -
  • 1 small can tomato paste
  • 1 cup water
  • 4 tbsp milk, I used 2%
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2-3 tsp butter spread, example Country Crock or I can't believe it's not butter
  • 1/2 tsp of sugar
  • 2 cup uncooked Ditalini made by Davinci

Instructions-

Bring 4 quarts of salted ,~ NOT the tsp in ingredients.~ ,water to a boil. Once boiling add pasta and cook until desired texture is reached.
Drain. Yes your tiny little pasta circles got BIG.
In a small saucepan, stir together all ingredients except the pasta.
Heat on medium until the butter spread melts completely.
Pour the pasta into the sauce stirring to combine.

We were able to dish up 8 bowls filled to the top for the adults. So if you are making just for little kids, toddlers, I would say you will get 16 servings.
